I want you to imagine the following for a moment...
You’re out in the middle of the open savannah. It’s past midnight. At first all you can hear is the soft chirp of bugs lingering in the crisp and cool air. You look up and the sky shines and shimmers from horizon to horizon. An endless sea of stars. You listen closer and you hear the soft breath of a sleeping lion. A slow inhale followed by a powerful exhale. He’s not far from where you’re sitting. It reminds you of the song… “In the jungle, the mighty jungle… the lion sleeps tonight.”
Suddenly, without warning, he stands up, turns around and looks directly at you. You make direct eye contact and you’re stunned. Motionless, your eyes widen and you take in the scene. With the Milky Way Galaxy as his backdrop, the lion lets out a growl to let you know he also sees you. You’re still frozen stiff. And before you know it, the moment has passed, but you only realize it when you notice the mighty king of the jungle walking off into the night.
Welcome back… how was your trip to the open plains of Namibia? I hope you enjoyed that visualization, because it’s just a tase of what you can expect from my photography in the physical form of a print.
The vivid colors and perfectly balanced textures of my wildlife portraits will teleport you to the time and place. Escape to the moment as if you were right there next to me. With any one of my prints hanging in your home you can take a daydream trip daily. And as a result, you’ll no doubt grow a stronger Connection to Nature.
Who is Donal Boyd?
As written by me...
Donal Boyd is an American wildlife conservationist and photographer currently based in Southern Africa and Iceland. His intimate portraits of the world's most threatened wildlife establish a sense of closeness, familiarity, and emotional connection between viewers and the subjects he depicts.
Donal’s highly aesthetic imagery is accomplished through distilling the most visually punctual elements of wildlife through post-processing techniques that push the boundaries of traditional wildlife portraiture. Ultimately, Donal presents his art as a form of ‘visual advocacy’ to promote the conservation of wildlife and nature through the depiction of each individual animal’s portrait and story.
His primary outlet for expression is social media where his punctual visuals and eccentric captions have garnered a large following that is eager to learn more about conservation projects and support environmental initiatives that are presented through Donal’s channels.
Donal’s independent portrait projects are largely self-funded through his fine-art photography business. His limited-edition series are sought after by collectors worldwide who seek to support wildlife conservation initiatives as Donal regularly commits funds from print sales to organizations such as the International Fund for Animal Welfare, Onçafari SOS Pantanal, Zimbabwe Elephant Nursery and many more.

Through his photography, Donal is able to capture astonishing moments of sincerity that are easily overlooked. The Sage of the Forest's expression reveals his acknowledgement of us, the spectator, and gently reminds us of the strong sense of humanity that these beautiful creatures exhibit. It is a privilege to be able to support both Donal and this vulnerable species through this beautiful piece of art. Thank you Don!
Donal is able to capture astonishing moments of sincerity in a countless number of creatures and locations. The Sage of the Forest's gentle expression conveys emotions that aren't easily explained with words. There is a level of acknowledgement on The Sage's behalf that asks nothing of us, the spectator, and reminds us of the strong sense of humanity that these beautiful creatures are capable of. It also serves as a reminder of how vulnerable this species is, and how nature asks nothing of us despite the abundance it provides humanity with. It is a privilege to be able to support Donal through this beautiful piece of art. Thank you Don!Marco, USA
We've been long time fans of Donal's photography and love his photos online. This print is even more stunning in person and was printed on high quality card stock. We love his elephant series and are glad to have helped support his conservation mission.Bryan & Cassandra, USA
I have several of Donal's large artworks. I bought the first big Elephant photograph in 2019. Donal’s enormous talent combined with his passion about wildlife provide him with the ability to bring us connection and closeness with nature and the animals he depicts. The giant Elephant hangs on the wall of our TV room and it’s like having a piece of Africa in our home.Thiago, São Paulo, Brazil
We've been collectors of Donal's work for years. Although we've never been to many of the places where Donal visits, we feel like we have. His art on our walls brings us closer to nature that the world must learn to protect. We look forward to purchasing more of Donal's work in support of his conservation efforts.Michael, Boston, USA
The photographs came quickly and without issue from Europe. They are of exceptional quality with a certificate of authenticity for each one! I am beyond thrilled to support Donal and his conservation photography. Can’t wait to frame these beautiful photos!Dena, MD, USA
A couple of years ago a stumbled upon this photograph on Instagram. I was immediately sold by the mystical energy of it, the beautiful dynamic composition, the beautiful patterns of the giraffes popping up against the dark green trees (what a color by the way!). I saved the photograph on my phone.
I have always had a certain attraction towards giraffes. These animals are so magnificent. Their height, their unique skin pattern, the way they walk and especially run is with so much bravura, its so gracious. They have always fascinated me. So when I learned about the big sale I did not doubt for a second and bought one of my favourite photographs. I am so happy with it!Vera, Netherlands
Split Personality, Conditions, Wilder. We bought these prints because we loved the interplay of the colors and focus in each of these. Especially how the constellation lined up with the lion it was just gorgeous and combined our love of stellar photography with big cats.Andrew, USA
I believe it is called Motherhood, with the baby elephant and mother. The print I bought from you two years ago of the elephant has been in my daughter's room since she was born, in part to hopefully make her passionate about animals and conservation as she grows up. I got this print for her/my wife as it felt representative of their relationship and I can't wait to hang it in my daughter's room to compliment her current picture.Chris, USA
Empathy, Sage of the Forest and Symbiosis. Just simply beautiful photos that were chosen for where they would be in our house. The stories behind them were also fantastic.Jim, UK
