LARGE

You are what you hang on your wall… These are statement pieces. It’s often said that people choose art based on their own personal characteristics and I think that is enormously true. For portraits of wildlife hanging on your wall, the mood of the subjects says a lot about who you are. Are you intense? Curious? Are you an ocean lover? Maybe you belong in the forest? Who are you?

There’s a lot less of this size on purpose. That’s because normally I sell this size and the extra-large exclusively in galleries to collectors. And for these sizes, as the edition is sold out the price goes up because each print becomes rarer. Classic supply and demand. Like the bigger print, the price could go up without warning at any point as more of the edition is sold.

Recommended Frame: 60 x 50 inch frame with mat. Custom frame is recommended. Since the print has no border and this is the largest size, I suggest having a frame shop create a frame built specifically for the print so that the entire image is visible without a mat. You’re paying a premium for this size, so might as well make it look the best it can.

Okay… so, if you know the photograph of the lion with the Milky Way “Wilder” … the story behind that image literally leads immediately into the story of this image. So, I’ll continue from where I left off…

After spending the entire night in the bush tracking a lion, without sleeping at all, the sun began to rise. As the arriving light finally reached where we’d lost Wilder in the thickets, we met up with another guide by the name of Francois to chat about the night patrol.

Astonished at the portrait result, he went on to explain how he was on his way to check up on some young Cheetah Cubs. Well, despite the lack of sleep, having only eaten some cookies, and still incredibly cold… well, I couldn’t pass up this opportunity. A hot cup of coffee perked me right up, and the stoke of seeing these Cheetah cubs got me to this very moment pictured here.

If you’ve been following Erindi and the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF), you’ll know this is the son of Savanna. The cub is now a second-generation Cheetah born in the wild to rewilded Cheetahs in an effort to help restore the population of Cheetahs across Africa. It’s part of the conservation program at Erindi in collaboration with CCF. They’re responsible for the hope that we all have for Cheetahs.

Now, I must say. I’ve never been looked at by a Cheetah in quite the same way. His glossy eyes filled with light, a sense of calm, and something else. After going through the many portraits I’ve taken of this Cheetah since 2018, I’ve realized an astonishing trend. Unlike most Cheetahs, who seem to frown as young cubs, he didn’t. His gaze was empathetic. Compassionate. Understanding, perhaps of his importance for the future of the species.

Today he and his brother roam the reserve as a coalition. As they enter adulthood, strong and fit, they represent hope for Cheetahs. This particular Cheetah still looks at me the same way, you’ll see what I mean if you’ve followed his portrait series.

However, if a package does arrive damaged and the print is also damaged, you can contact me directly by email. You’ll need to photograph the package and the print and send the details to info@donalboyd.com along with your order number and tracking info.

Delivery Time: Orders ship out within 24-hours of your purchase, but can take up to 15-days to arrive, so please have patience. I'm using the trusted service of theprintspace located in London, UK. They're incredible, but only offer Flat Rate Worldwide shipping, which is limited in terms of order tracking numbers. From my experience so far with the previous print sale, everyone has received their orders, but due to COVID delays, things seems to take a bit longer than normal. Keep in mind that I'm all alone in trying to manage the print store right now, but I promise, you will get your print!

Exchanges & Returns:

Straight refunds are not accepted as these are limited editions prints, but I’m confident you’re going to love the print and cherish it forever. But if it isn’t what you expected, or it’s somehow damaged you can exchange it for free. Once the package is delivered, you’ll have 5-days to notify me via email info@donalboyd.com if the print is either damaged or if you’d like to exchange it for another of equal value. Shipping is free if the print is damaged, but if you want to exchange the print, you’ll need to cover the shipping costs, plus the cost of the prints. Unfortunately, I cannot accept back prints that have been delivered as there is too high a risk of them being damaged or lost in the shipping. I do not keep an inventory of prints as all orders are made within 24-hours of purchase and shipped out from the print lab in London or Germany. Therefore, because I do not keep a stock, I cannot accept back prints for this reason.

Edition Numbers: All prints are limited edition. Once the edition sells out there is never going to be another printed. Ever. At this time I can not accommodate special requests for specific edition numbers. Although it is a common practice when purchasing through galleries and exhibitions to ask for a specific edition number, the ordering system that I currently have in place does not allow for easy modifications after the order is placed online. For artwork that has a history of sales, you may receive a random As such, if you order two prints of the same image, you might not get consecutive edition numbers. For example, you might get Edition 5 of 15 and 1 of 15 for the same image even though you order the prints at the same time and even if the print appears to be almost sold out online.
